Academic Requirements
The Governor's School for Science and Mathematics awards both State of South Carolina and Governor's School diplomas.
Students must complete a minimum of 14.5 units during the fall and spring semesters of their two years at GSSM.
These requirements are defined by a combination of:
- Minimum units in a subject area that must be taken at GSSM;
- Level of study that must be completed in a subject area during high school;
- Specific courses that must be taken.
This table shows both the minimum number of units that must be completed at GSSM and the minimum total units that must be taken during high school. Students may have to complete more courses in a subject area than the minimum in order to meet requirements explained here.
