Alumni Association Committee Descriptions

Awards
The Awards Committee will name a GSSM Young Leader of the Year or Outstanding Alumni of the Year each spring.  The committee will establish selection criteria, accept nominations, choose the recipient, plan and hold the award announcement.

Communications
The Communications Committee will work with SCGSSM Foundation staff to promote GSSM.  This may include public relations in the form of op/eds, etc as well as the formation of an alumni speakers bureau for engagements such as GSSM career day, recruitment sessions and GSSM government relations opportunities to speak to S.C. lawmakers.

Fundraising
The Fundraising Committee will work with SCGSSM Foundation staff to garner support from alumni.  This may include direct mail, electronic campaigns, phone-a-thons, personal contacts, and special events.

Membership
The Membership Committee will work with SCGSSM Foundation staff to encourage participation by all alumni in the Association.  They will participate in efforts by the Foundation to maintain contact with all alumni and will help to coordinate alumni reconnect events across the country.  The Membership Committee will also oversee all Alumni Association chapters and, in conjunction with the Programs Committee, coordinate annual GSSM Alumni reunions.   Finally, the Membership Committee will oversee the election of Board members at the end of each fiscal year, working with the SCGSSM Foundation staff to coordinate nomination efforts, develop a slate of officers, hold elections and post results.

Programs
The Programs Committee will work with SCGSSM Foundation staff as well as GSSM staff to develop, establish and maintain programs through which all GSSM alumni can give back to the school. The Programs Committee, in conjunction with the Membership Committee, will also coordinate annual GSSM Alumni reunions.
