Music at GSSM? Yes!

I am so glad that I chose music as my interim class! We studied music theory and history, and practiced analyzing pieces on a deeper level to gain a better understanding.
We were given flexible practice schedules to rehearse our solo, duet, and/or trio ensemble pieces in preparation for the Region and All-State 2013 band auditions. All four students who auditioned for the Region Band were accepted and three of us placed high enough to get an All-State call back!
We did not always stay at GSSM. We traveled to Charleston to watch a performance by the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. We also took a trip to Florence to watch a piano recital. Our final trip was to the Morrell nursing home. We all got the opportunity to play a piece that we had chosen for the occasion. This was probably my favorite trip because we got to see the smiles on everyone’s faces.
On the last day of interim, we performed eight different ensembles in front of the school. I really enjoyed my time in the music interim.
