A Teacher's First Day of School

‘I Have Confidence,' the song Maria was singing in the Sound of Music, is what came to my wife’s mind as we pulled up in front of the Governor’s School for the very first time at my interview.  As my jaw dropped, my first thought was “No way! That’s a high school?”  However, I did not lose confidence as Maria did when she first saw the giant mansion.  My dream was to “get more.”   Now that I am teaching advanced chemistry at the best high school in South Carolina, it feels great. It has been a wonderful first eight weeks at GSSM.

GSSM is an exceptional place to teach and learn. GSSM has outstanding leaders and a terrific support system.  As Mary Poppins would say, the facilities are supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (i.e. fantastic).  The technology is superb.  It is incredible to be a part of such an amazing faculty and staff.  What an awesome place!
