GSSM's 20th Anniversary: Celebrating Good Times

April 14, 2009

As our year-long 20th Anniversary Celebration draws to a close, we're still celebrating good news at the Governor's School. Take a look at our most recent event, the 2009 Townes Award Dinner, where we honored Sonoco chairman and president Harris E. DeLoach Jr.

Watch the presentation that keynote speaker Jim Suciu, president of global sales and marketing for GE Energy, gave on the exciting future of energy and technology in the United States.

Celebrated annually, The Townes Award is given in honor of Dr. Charles H. Townes, South Carolina native and Nobel Laureate in physics. Townes received the Nobel Prize in 1964 for his work in quantum electronics, leading to the invention of the laser. For nearly 20 years, the Governor's School has recognized businesses and individuals, like Charles H. Townes, who go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to implementing innovative research, development, technology and business in the Palmetto State.
