GSSM Alumnus Awarded Cisco/NACME Scholarship

Nathaniel George Myers III, GSSM '07, has been selected to receive a $5,000 scholarship for the 2009-10 school year through a partnership between Cisco, a global networking company, and the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME).

Myers, a mechanical engineering student at NC State, is one of four recipients chosen from engineering schools across the country.

The son of Nathaniel J. Myers, Jr. and Mary F. Myers of Kingstree, Nathaniel is studying abroad at the University of Ghana for the spring semester.

The Cisco/NACME scholarship program promotes minority student achievement in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.
Applicants for the award must be full-time students at NC State, Cornell University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Purdue University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the University of Southern California or the University of California at San Diego.

NACME is the largest private source of scholarships for African-Americans, Latinos and American Indians. Cisco employs more than 63,000 people worldwide.
