Andrea Butler Arterbury Earns Certified Internal Auditor Designation

Andrea Butler Arterbury was named today as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) by The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Andrea is an Internal Audit Manager with Dixon Hughes, PLLC in Raleigh, NC. She is a graduate of the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (1996) and Gardner-Webb University, receiving her Bachelor of Science in 2001 and her Masters of Accountancy in 2005. She is the daughter of Virginia Lynne McGowan and granddaughter of R.T. and Minnie Gregory, all of Gaffney. The CIA designation is awarded to internal audit professionals who have met the rigorous requirements of the IIA's CIA program, including a four-part examination, as well as high standards of character, education and experience.
Administered twice each year in multiple languages, the CIA exam was given in November 2006 to over 31,000 candidates at 286 sites in 97 countries around the world. The CIA exam reflects the current state of the art in internal auditing and evaluates technical competence in important subject areas related to internal auditing.
The more than 64,000 Certified Internal Auditors worldwide are members of a recognized professional group and benefit from rapid career advancement and greater acceptance in the role as advisor to management.
Established in 1941, the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is an international professional association of more than 130,000 members with global headquarters in Altamonte Springs, Fla., United States. Throughout the world, the IIA is recognized as the internal audit profession's leader in certification, education, research and technological guidance.
