Since 2005, the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) has been supporting the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics through the Foundation's Business Advisory Council (BAC) or annual fund. Participation in the BAC helps to support a variety of key initiatives such as scholarships, classroom technology and new program development. More than 100 businesses, individuals and organizations across the state support GSSM annually through the BAC. MUSC's ties with the Governor's School are due to the fact that a large percentage of GSSM grads go on to become doctors and professionals in health sciences.

"As the Chairman of the Board of the Governor's School, I have an upfront and personal view of the extraordinary students who graduate from this wonderful institution. Many of these students conduct research projects at MUSC while they are at the Governor's School and a number eventually end up at here as students in the health professions. South Carolina is very fortunate to have a science and math school of this quality and I am proud of the close relationship between our institutions."
