GSSM Foundation Receives $5,000 from URS Washington Division

The South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) Foundation is pleased to announce a $5,000 contribution for residential scholarships from the URS Washington Division in Aiken.
Located in Hartsville, GSSM is a public, residential high school for academically talented juniors and seniors. The annual fee is just $1,125 per year, yet 20 percent of students require partial or full scholarships.
"The URS Washington Division and its heritage companies have always supported the sciences with student scholarships, university funding and special programs," said E. Preston Rahe, Jr., President of the URS Washington Division's Energy and Environment Business Unit. "Our employees who will operate the advanced energy systems of tomorrow are entering secondary school today. It is critical to attract the best and brightest to programs like the Governor's School."

Outside the Washington Center for Performing Arts -- Kim Bowman, executive director of the SC Governor's School for Science and Mathematics Foundation, receives a $5,000 check from E. Preston Rahe, Jr., President of the URS Washington Division's Energy & Environment Business Unit in Aiken. The donation from the Washington Foundation will provide scholarships for disadvantaged students to attend GSSM.
