Since 2007, Force Protection, Inc. has been a supporter of the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics through the Foundation's Business Advisory Council (BAC) or annual fund. Participation in the BAC helps to support a variety of key initiatives such as scholarships, classroom technology and new program development. More than 150 businesses, individuals and organizations across the state support GSSM annually through the BAC.
Formed in 1997, Force Protection has become the nation's leading center for blast technology and counter improvised explosive device (IED) research as it designs, manufactures, tests, delivers and supports blast- and mine-protected vehicles throughout the world.

With its first South Carolina headquarters at the Charleston Naval Yard, Force Protection moved in 2003 to a 260-acre campus on Highway 78 in Ladson, South Carolina. Occupying the first 87,000 square feet of space in a plant that previously produced General Electric turbine engines, vehicle production capacity has continued to increase.
Force Protection’s dramatic growth has necessitated the expansion of its production facilities to 400,000 square feet of administrative, manufacturing, research and development, test and integration space and the increase of its workforce to more than 1,000.
“At the core of this company is innovation. Force Protection was the first American company to introduce the concept of the V-shaped monocoque hull. Our Buffalo and Cougar vehicles were first fielded with the military in 2003. By supporting institutions like the SC Governor’s School for Science and Math, we will help to ensure that innovation continues to thrive in South Carolina and around the world through developing the next generation of innovators in the fields of math and science. We are proud to support the SC Governors School.”
