Sarah Hager of Rock Hill Receives Corey Claytor Memorial Scholarship

June 14, 2007

Sarah Hager, a 2007 graduate of the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM), recently was selected as the Corey Claytor Memorial Scholarship recipient.

GSSM annually awards the Corey Claytor Memorial Scholarship in memory of Hugh McCorkle "Corey" Claytor, Jr. Corey's family and the faculty and staff of GSSM present the scholarship to the graduating senior who best exemplifies the qualities of character GSSM remembers so fondly in Corey: his constant helpfulness to others, his delightful sense of humor and his unfailing willingness to befriend others without regard to race, creed or status.

Corey's family and friends have created a permanent endowment to support this annual scholarship award. The scholarship for the honoree is to be applied to the college of his or her choice during the freshman year.

Hager, the daughter of James and Peggy Hager of Rock Hill, will attend Wofford College this fall.
