Elizabeth Cannon of West Columbia Receives Governor's Citizenship Award at GSSM

Elizabeth "Betsy" Cannon, a 2007 graduate of the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM), recently was selected as the 2006-07 Governor's Citizenship Award recipient.

The Governor's Citizenship Award Program honors one student from each participating school for outstanding service, leadership, responsibility, character and discipline. Each winner receives a Governor's Citizenship Award certificate and a Governor's Medal of Citizenship.

Cannon, the daughter of Robert and Carol Cannon of West Columbia, will attend Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota this fall.
