Once again, GSSM leads all South Carolina high schools with the highest number of National Merit Semifinalists. GSSM's National Merit Semifinalists include:

"These prestigious awards will open many doors for our students," said Dr. Murray Brockman, GSSM president. "Each one of them is highly deserving of the honor, having buttressed their great natural talent with hard work and dedicated pursuit of their studies. I'm proud of each of them, and proud that they chose GSSM to further their education."
In early September, 16,000 students (approximately one-third of the 50,000 high scorers) were notified that they had qualified as Semifinalists. To ensure that academically able young people from all parts of the United States are included in this talent pool, Semifinalists are designated on a state representational basis. They are the highest scoring entrants in each state.
NMSC provides scholarship application materials to Semifinalists through their high schools. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must advance to Finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standards and all other requirements explained in the materials provided to each Semifinalist.
