GSSM Implements New Emergency Notification Service

November 28, 2007

As part of its ongoing effort to provide a safe learning and living environment, the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) has selected TechRadium's IRIS Emergency Notification Service to provide students, staff, families and first responders critical safety information in the event of a campus emergency.

When evaluating competing systems, GSSM sought services with the following features: off-site service hosting on redundant first-tier telecommunication networks; ability to rapidly distribute messages via voice, email, fax and SMS text messaging to specific groups or the entire subscribed population; ability to initiate messages from on or off campus; text-to-speech capability with built-in language translation; logging information that notes failed deliveries and describes when each notification reaches its destination; and 24-hour, 365-day emergency assistance.

In addition to converting information harvested from school databases, parents and other non-student subscribers have a web-based, subscriber-initiated registration and information update.

TechRadium's IRIS Emergency Notification Service is used by schools, colleges and universities across the state and nation.
