Kim Bowman Named Chief Executive Officer, Executive Vice President of Strategic Direction at GSSM Foundation

The S.C. Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) Foundation is pleased to announce that Kim Bowman has been named the organization's first chief executive officer while simultaneously being named executive vice president of strategic direction for the school.

Bowman has served as the Foundation's executive director since 2005 as well as vice president of institutional advancement for GSSM.

In her evolving dual roles, she is responsible for short and long-term strategic visioning for the school which includes new national and statewide initiatives, partnerships and promotions. At the same time, she oversees marketing/PR, fundraising, alumni relations, government affairs and recruiting.

Before joining the Foundation, Kim served as Director of Development for the College of Mass Communications and Information Studies at the University of South Carolina. Prior to that, she was the vice president of marketing for EdVenture Children's Museum and, before that, Editor and Chief of The State newspaper's niche lifestyle publication, Lake Murray Magazine.

Originally from West Virginia, Kim is a 1987 graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She is actively involved in the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the American Marketing Association (AMA), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and Toastmasters.

She serves on the board of directors for the Irmo High School Education Foundation and the advisory board for the new Lexington Count Performing Arts Center.
