GSSM Students Create History Exhibit for Hartsville Museum On display through June 3rd

GSSM Senior Carl Garris, along with other members of the GSSM History Club, has created an exhibit for the Hartsville Museum chronicling the history of GSSM. Garris, son of Mike and Sandy Garris of Chapin, is a member of GSSM’s History Club and does regular community service at the Hartsville Museum.

One hundred twenty-two rising juniors have been invited to our residential program in Hartsville, SC, and 56 rising sophomores have been invited to the inaugural class of our Accelerate virtual engineering program.

The Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) is accepting applications for GoSciTech, its week-long residential summer camps for rising 8th, 9th and 10th graders, until May 15, 2013. GoSciTech, held on GSSM's Hartsville campus, will be offered June 16-22, June 23-29 and July 7-13.

The 2013 conference was held April 13 at the Benedict College School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Columbia, SC.

The thirteen National Merit Semifinalists from the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) have all been named National Merit Finalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). The finalists’ abilities, skills and accomplishments will be considered as the winners of the National Merit Scholarship Awards are chosen. Award announcements began this week and continue through July.

On Friday, April 19, 2013, students, faculty and staff of GSSM broke the world record for building the longest ice cream sundae on the GSSM Campus in Hartsville, SC. Approximately 180 GSSM students, faculty and staff participated in building the 815 foot, two inch cool and creamy extravaganza. The ice cream was enjoyed by local leaders, Hartsville residents and GSSM alumni who came to support the students, faculty and staff during this incredible undertaking.

IT-oLogy is proud to announce the South Carolina Affiliate Aspirations in Computing Awards (Aspirations) presentation to be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 to honor five South Carolina high school women for receiving the Aspirations in Computing Awards. The award is sponsored by the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT). South Carolina affiliate partners include IT-oLogy, Winthrop University and the SC Regional Education Centers.
