iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation is GSSM's computer science and technology day camp for rising 7th and 8th graders across the Palmetto State. Next Generation pushes students to the next level by delivering a more advanced curriculum and a focused challenge creating Arduino projects.

2016 iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation Challenge

Exploring the world of Arduino technology, iTEAMS Xtreme Next Gens will create Arduino projects that explore the various uses of microcontrollers, analyze how infrared remotes work, and build and program a simple robot. After designing and testing, they will present their creations in an iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation Smart Faire.

Xtreme Facts

  • Technologies introduced: Arduino, robots, robotics using electronic microcontrollers, and infrared receivers
  • GSSM hires local teachers and GSSM alumni to participate as assistants and role models
  • Students are selected based on grades and interest

Who is eligible to apply?

Rising 7th and 8th graders and teachers in participating counties.

Dates & Locations 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. daily

Beaufort: June 13-16, 2016 at H.E. McCracken Middle School
Greenville: June 13-16, 2016 at Fisher Middle School
Lexington: July 18-21, 2016 at Lexington Technology Center
Orangeburg: June 20-23, 2016 at William J. Clark Middle School
Dorchester: June 27-30, 2016 at Gregg Middle School
York: July 11-14, 2016 at Springfield Middle School

Cost: $185 per student* or $165 Early Bird Rate if paid with application by April 11
Cost includes materials, snacks and a pizza party on the final day

*Due to the generosity of our donors, full scholarships, including lunches and transportation, are provided to all campers in Orangeburg County. To qualify for one of these full scholarships, students must attend schools in Orangeburg County and submit an application prior to the application deadline. Full, need-based scholarships are also available for all locations statewide. Complete the scholarship/financial aid section of the application to apply.
