Marine Biology - 9K

DR. RICHARD ZINGMARK, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Marine and Biological Sciences at the University of South Carolina-Columbia, will explore marine biology with his students through lectures, visual presentations, laboratory activities, and an overnight field trip to the Baruch Marine Field Laboratory on North Inlet Estuary near Georgetown that will include an opportunity to observe the nesting behavior of loggerhead turtles.  Tuition $625

After receiving a Fulbright Senior Scholars Award, Dr. Zingmark (BS, MS, Humboldt State Univ.; PhD, Univ. of California at Santa Barbara) lived for a year with his family on Majuro, a small coral atoll in the Marshall Islands where he taught marine biology and ecology at the College of Micronesia and did research on the mariculture of some commercially important seaweeds.  (Ask him about some prize-winning seaweed recipes.)  He has 38 years of research experience in South Carolina, primarily researching the physiological ecology of freshwater and marine algae.
