Engage Your Creativity. Delivered by GSSM’s Center for Science Education & Outreach, ENGAGE is designed to impact students through early interest and awareness of STEM studies. Early experiences with STEM are shown to help build students’ confidence with new technologies.

Join in the fun! Discover how computers control robots with code!
What makes a robot move, light up, or beep? Code! In this class, you will use Scratch to program mBots and bring them to life. From flashing lights to navigating challenges, discover how coding turns ideas into action. No experience needed, just bring your curiosity and get ready to learn while you create!
ENGAGE is a multiple-session in-person program in which students will use critical thinking skills and deductive reasoning to explore the science and technology behind real-world problems as they work through mini-challenges while learning skills used to create their own project.
WHEN: Eight Mondays, September 22 - November 10, 2025
TIME: 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
LOCATION: 401 Railroad Ave, Hartsville, SC 29550
WHO: 6th - 8th grade students
COST: A student’s time and willingness to learn new things!
Space is limited to 20 students per class. ENGAGE will be held on the GSSM Campus.
NOTE: To complete the ENGAGE experience, attendance at all eight sessions is mandatory. Before registering, check your calendar to ensure there aren’t any scheduling conflicts.
