Govies Practice Etiquette

On November 15, Junior Govies attended the sixth annual Etiquette Dinner. Juniors attend this event to practice the etiquette lessons they learned in Life & Leisure class, taught by wellness counselor Dr. Evans, and Senior Natural Helpers serve the dinner. Community members hosted tables and engaged in conversation with the Juniors. Among the hosts were Representative Jay Lucas and Representative Robert Williams (pictured). Dr. Evans makes sure her students know proper etiquette for formal situations, as well as the South Carolina state dance, the shag, because “it’s better to know it and not need it than to need it and not know it.”

Reconnecting with Alumni

GSSM and the GSSM Foundation strive to retain close ties with GSSM alumni, who live and work across the country. This year, GSSM representatives have held "reconnect" dinners for alumni in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Durham, Boston, New York City, Seattle, Washington DC, and Baltimore. Our next stop is Columbia, SC, for the annual Winter Gathering. All alumni, as well as current and former faculty and staff, are invited to attend.
