What is your educational background?
I received my B.S. in Biology from the University of South Carolina and my Ph.D. in Plant Biology from the University of California Riverside with an ecology emphasis. My doctoral research coupled field data and ecological models to assess sustainable pathways in agriculture.
How long have you worked at GSSM?
I started at GSSM in June of 2018.
What’s the best thing about working at GSSM?
The community. This school is more than just a workplace and that makes working here so much more enjoyable.
What is your perfect pizza?
Roasted garlic, burrata, greens of some kind, and a thin, garlic butter crust - baked in a piping hot wood-fire oven. That being said, a classic margherita pizza is pretty hard to turn down.
Who inspires you and why?
My best friends from college. Each of them has found their own unique, inspiring path in life. It’s been a pleasure to watch them grow and to grow with them; and even though we’re spread out across the country now, we always make time for one another.
What’s the best thing about Hartsville?
Kalmia gardens, Vintage, Rooster brunch, the Yoga Festival, and porch time with our dear friends.

Care to share something about yourself that others would not expect?
In between undergrad and grad school, I worked as a baker at a small sourdough bakery and toured around southern California in my ’94 Buick Century, wood-paneled station wagon selling bread.
