Sent on behalf of Vice President for Finance and Operations, Mr. Brock Heron:

Dear GSSM community,

I am writing to inform you of two GSSM employees who have tested positive for COVID-19. GSSM Human Resources was notified and responded in accordance with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) protocols, directing them to isolate. DHEC has been notified as well as the South Carolina Department of Education. We have identified the spaces the diagnosed person occupied on campus, and those spaces have been cleaned and disinfected as recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). To maintain the privacy of our colleagues, the person who has tested positive will remain confidential. Please note that no students have had close contact with these employees.

We wish this member of our community a speedy recovery. As we continue to navigate this unprecedented pandemic together, we are deeply committed to transparency and our response protocols. The GSSM community's safety is of our highest priority and we will continue to take prudent steps in maintaining that. If more positive cases appear within our GSSM community, GSSM will continue to notify the community directly.

In turn, we ask that you please remain diligent in maintaining social distancing, wearing a face-covering, frequently washing your hands, and screening yourself for COVID-19 symptoms before entering campus each day. If you have symptoms or have had close contact with a person who has tested positive, please contact Human Resources immediately. By being disciplined around these practices, we are protecting everyone's safety and aiding in the prevention of spreading COVID-19.

If you have any questions, please contact GSSM Human Resources at abrumley@gssm.k12.sc.us.

Sincerely,

Mr. Brock Heron
