- What will the daily schedule look like?
Each day will run from 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Each day will consist of mini technology challenges and the week will end with a Closing Showcase.
- Do I need to bring food to camp?
GSSM will provide a daily lunch for students in the day programs on our campus, and you may pack a water bottle and snack for your child to bring with them if you wish.
In Horry County & Orangeburg County lunch will be provided by the district and a daily snack will be provided by GSSM. You are welcome to bring your own lunch if you prefer. We recommend that you bring a water bottle daily as well.
Students in all other locations will need to bring lunch and a refillable water bottle to camp all four days. GSSM will provide snacks each day; however, if you have dietary restrictions or food allergies, you should pack a snack with your lunch.
- What supplies do I need to bring to camp?
Nothing! You will be provided with a camp workbook, a writing utensil, and all of the supplies you will need to complete your activities.
- What types of technology will I learn?
CREATEng will work with digital architecture and home design software.
- Should I bring my own electronic devices?
The camp supplies all electronic devices necessary. The camp staff cannot guarantee the security of your electronics while at camp. Students may bring cell phones, but we request parents set clear guidelines on use. Cell phones cannot be used during class time. If devices are deemed to be used inappropriately, they will be confiscated and returned to parents at the end of camp.
- Is this an overnight camp?
No, CREATEng is a day camp. Parents/guardians are required to drop students off in the morning and pick them up at the end of each camp day.
- Can I see what my child has been working on all week?
Yes! There will be a showcase on Thursday afternoon of each week of camp. You will get an invitation at the beginning of the week.
- Can I request to be on a team with my friends?
Students will be assigned to specific instructors. If you happen to be in the same class, yes you can! However, camp is a great time to meet new people and make new friends!
