Company/Organization: SC Governor's School for Science & Mathematics

Location: Hartsville, SC

Darlington County School District (DCSD) and the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) offer a unique opportunity for you to create, design, and teach a high school course in your own field of expertise. This part-time position is funded by the PULSE (Partnership for Unparalleled Local Scholastic Excellence) initiative and will be jointly managed by DCSD and GSSM.

The objective of this initiative is to partner with math, science, business and engineering content experts in and around our community to create innovative courses that will broaden the scope of the education we provide. Approved courses will follow a workshop-based teaching model, and thus should be driven by high levels of student engagement, discussion, and hands-on learning activities.

The created courses can be one or two semesters in length, and will be delivered daily to students at Hartsville High school for one class period each day during the 2017-18 school year. Scheduling is flexible, as there are multiple time-slots during school hours from which to choose.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will hold a bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college. The position also requires verification of five years occupational work experience within the past ten years in, or related to, your content area. Candidates with and without teaching experience are equally encouraged to apply. For clarification or questions, please contact the program facilitator, Dr. Jerome Reyes at reyes@gssm.k12.sc.us.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until all appropriate positions are filled.

Please apply electronically. Send a cover letter, resume, teaching statement and the GSSM Employment application to careers@gssm.k12.sc.us. Include the words "PULSE Adjunct" in the subject line.
