The SC Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics is seeking an exceptional STEM educator to create, manage, and deliver professional development programs for teachers and learning experiences for students that focus on inquiry and problem-based learning as well as the integration of learning technologies into STEM instruction. This multi-faceted position will include managing, coordinating, teaching, and assessing program impact. The individual in this position will expand the GSSM Portable Advanced STEM Exploration (PASE) program, which includes conducting professional development workshops, explore virtual learning opportunities, and provide support to other GSSM outreach programs and initiatives. The individual will join a creative team that develops and delivers innovative STEM educational curriculum, activities, and programs designed to improve students’ academic achievement and the professional growth of teachers.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated through experience and success the ability to carry out the core functions of the position. The necessary credentials include an advanced degree in science, mathematics, engineering, STEM education, or a related field. Desired qualifications include a strong content background in the STEM disciplines, teaching at the college, advanced high school, or middle school levels, an understanding of diverse learners, and an enthusiasm for teaching and developing educational experiences for students and teachers. Curriculum design, professional development experience, knowledge using instructional learning technologies, and experience with virtual instruction are preferred. Candidates should have a proven ability to collaborate with teachers and administrators, knowledge for developing and evaluating programs, and talent to coordinate multiple tasks. They should also possess a demonstrated understanding of teaching and learning, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proficiency in written and oral communication.
This is a full-time 12-month position with benefits available. Compensation is competitive based on credentials, experience and other unique qualifications. Some travel is required for working with partner districts and schools.
