GSSM is seeking a talented and experienced person to help launch our first Institutional Research office. The Institutional Research (IR) Analyst will lead the school’s efforts to collect, organize, and present information that promotes credible reporting and understanding of how our programs support students and help us to achieve institutional goals.

This is a highly visible position within the community and an important contributor to seeking and maintaining accreditations, improving institutional effectiveness, communicating impact, and ensuring compliance with state and federal reporting requirements. This position reports to the CIO.

On a day to day basis, the IR Analyst will:

  1. Prepare and present highly reliable and credible data and analysis to various audiences using tables, charts, and narrative reports in a way that stakeholders can easily understand.
  2. Work with the school’s database analyst to create and maintain data structures for information collection, dashboards, ongoing analysis, and reporting.
  3. Extract data from GSSM’s Student Information Systems using export tools and databases for compliance reporting, external noncompliance reporting, and other requests for information.
  4. Represent GSSM in appropriate associations and consortia such as AIR, SAIR.
  5. Administer regularly scheduled and ad hoc surveys/participant research and report results.
  6. Assist with research projects that contribute to the understanding of GSSM student performance, needs, and characteristics over time.
  7. Arranging focus groups as needed, facilitate focus group sessions or interviews, and analyze resulting data.
  8. Complete and file all Federal, state, and accreditation-related compliance reporting.
  9. Perform research and analysis in support of grant applications.
  10. Develop, publish, and maintain a calendar of periodic reporting requirements.
  11. Provide leadership for all school survey processes to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with school policies and relevant regulations.
  12. Create and maintain a research dictionary and library of data available for inclusion in research and reporting.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, inquisitive, creative, and appreciates being part of a highly qualified and motivated team. Specifically, we seek someone with:

  • Skill and experience with descriptive quantitative statistics, managing large data sets, and qualitative research methods.
  • Bachelor’s degree with experience and/or relevant coursework in statistics and research methods.
  • Familiarity with secondary education, the needs of highly capable and motivated students, and specialized math, science, and engineering instruction.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office, some experience with statistical software (such as SPSS, SAS, R, etc), and querying languages such as SQL.
  • Strong attention to detail, flexible, and ability to work well both collaboratively and independently.
  • Understanding of state and federal reporting requirements is desired.
