A Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) Engineer position is available at the V. C. Summer Nuclear Station in Jenkinsville, SC.
This position will be responsible for Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) activities at the V. C. Summer Nuclear Station in Jenkinsville, SC. These activities include, but are not limited to, developing and maintaining PRA models using EPRI Risk and Reliability workstation software (i.e. CAFTA, EOOS, and HRA Calculator); supporting the use of the PRA model results in a risk informed regulatory environment; performing the Shutdown Safety Advisor function during outages to include monitoring activities for compliance with defense-in-depth and making recommendations to outage management to improve plant safety; and participation in the Emergency Response Organization as required. This position will interface with Licensing, Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Emergency Planning, Training and Planning & Scheduling groups to support the various functions of the position.
This job requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (preferably in nuclear, mechanical or electrical) from an ABET accredited college. Six years engineering experience is required at the Engineer level; however, the position will be filled commensurate with education and experience. Strong oral and written communications, presentation skills; relevant technical and analytical skills; strong collaborative and multi-tasking abilities; and advanced computer skills are also required.
Preferred qualifications include: a degree major in nuclear, mechanical, or electrical engineering; registration as an FE or PE with the SCDLLR or with another state with the ability to transfer to South Carolina; knowledge of nuclear power plant systems, current PRA practices and computer skills related to PRA models (especially EPRI R&R software tools). Applicants must be highly motivated, self-starters with excellent leadership and organizational skills. They must be capable and willing to accept future roles of increased responsibility.
