VC3, a dynamic IT services solution provider headquartered in Columbia, SC is seeking to fill a Senior Systems Engineer position in the our Raleigh, NC office. VC3 is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and has been located in Raleigh for over 10 years. This position is open due to our continued growth in the North Carolina market. Come join our growing team!
This position will function as the Technical Team Lead for the North Carolina team by participating in presales activities and systems design, including assisting with quotes and scoping projects. The Senior Systems Engineer will serve as a mentor to the team and assist with escalated technical issues. This position will also respond to and investigate end user inquiries, concerns and issues of all technical levels via phone, remote access, and in person.
The following skills/attributes are required:
High School diploma required; technical or bachelor's degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in information system design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance and documentation; office automation/productivity applications specification, installation, operation, and maintenance.
Strong knowledge of current IT concepts, issues, practices, methodologies, and trends.
Good problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to understand and analyze complex issues.
Must be motivated, detail orientated, highly organized and able to handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities in an efficient manner with a high level of quality.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Ability to deal effectively with clients, vendors, and peers.
Desire to provide the highest levels of service to clients.
Required technical skills include:
Strong networking background.
Experience with router and switch configuration, operation, and maintenance, routing protocols, TCP/IP, network management, network analysis, and network security.
Experience with POTS, PRI and SIP.
General understanding of internet protocols including DNS, SMTP, POP3, IMAP.
Not required, but highly desirable:
CCVP, CCNP, CCNA, or CCNA-Voice.
Experience supporting and maintaining Cisco CallManager, Unity/Unity Connection (IPCC/UCCX a plus).
Knowledge of Microsoft server and client operating systems (Server OS: 2003, 2008 and 2012; Client OS: XP Professional, Vista, and Windows 7 and 8).
Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure and maintenance.
Installation, upgrade, and maintenance of all currently supported versions orf Microsoft Exchange.
VMware ESX server experience.
Ability to use appropriate tools to identify and remove spy-ware, ad-ware and viruses.
Remote troubleshooting using, Remote Desktop, VNC, PC Anywhere.
Installation, configuration and maintenance of enterprise backup solutions.
Strong understanding of Client and Server hardware configurations including redundancy and RAID architectures.
Regular day travel is a requirement of this position.
Work Schedule: Must participate in 7x24 rotation; scheduled work after hours and on weekends.
