We are seeking an exceptional Spanish teacher who will join an excellently qualified and dedicated faculty passionate about their fields and supported to bring bring their best to teaching and student experiences. GSSM students find colleagiate and career opportunities that engage with people and cultures all over the world. As we expand our international programs, we are looking for faculty to challenge and lead our students towards fluency in, and confidence with, the world's languages and cultures. 

Experience of Applicants: Successful applicants must be able to teach basic Spanish language courses, AP Spanish, and upper level Spanish literature and culture electives. We welcome candidates with an interest in teaching new courses currently not offered in the course catalog. Applicants should have experience teaching at the university, college, or advanced high school level. A full listing of courses currently taught can be found at We encourage the development of interdisciplinary curricula and directed studies approaches. GSSM classes are taught in traditional class settings and virtual modalities. Experience and comfort in both is a plus. Demonstrated desire to work collegially to create unique and innovative experiences for the students served is a must. An understanding of gifted learners, an enthusiasm for teaching motivated and talented high-school-aged students, and knowledge of state of the art pedagogy are necessary for teaching success at GSSM.

Education of Applicants: Successful applicants will have a Master’s degree in Spanish, Second Language Acquisition, Linguistics, or related field. A PhD is preferred. Successful candidates will have near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.

About GSSM: Located in Hartsville, SC, GSSM is a statewide, public residential high school for 11th and 12th graders specializing in the advanced study of science, mathematics and engineering. Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time (10-month) permanent teaching position with benefits available through the State of South Carolina. Salary is competitive and commensurate with credentials, experience and unique capabilities.
