Students are back on campus and classes have resumed for a normal Tuesday schedule.

The City of Hartsville reports significant localized flooding in the Prestwood Lake and Black Creek area. The flood zones are about a mile away and 40 feet below the school's elevation, so it will not impact the campus.

September 17, 2018


The residence halls are open. Students unable to return to campus by 7pm today should call the RLC duty phone (843 858-1603) to let us know. Faculty and staff who are not able to report to work today should make arrangements with their supervisor. Nobody should attempt to travel to campus unless conditions are safe. Dining services will resume at lunch today.

The residence halls will re-open Monday, 9/17/18, at 9:00am. Students should return to campus by 7:00pm if conditions allow safe travel. Classes will resume Tuesday morning. Students unable to return by 7pm Monday should call the RLC duty phone (843 858-1603) to make alternate arrangements. For more details, see Dr. Flores' letter sent to parents this afternoon.

Due to lane reversals in coastal evacuation zones beginning tomorrow at noon, Dr. Flores cancelled classes on Tuesday. Families may pick up their students tonight. All students should be picked up by 6pm tomorrow. 


Today, Dr. Flores announced that GSSM will cancel Wednesday classes. Tuesday classes will follow a regular schedule and students may return home after their last commitment that day or before noon on Wednesday.

An announcement about re-opening will be made at noon on Saturday. Post-storm announcements will be made via email to the GSSM Family email list, this web page, and the GSSM emergency alert system.
