GSSM seeks an exceptional individual to develop and deliver innovative STEM curriculum, activities, and learning experiences for students and teachers statewide during the school year and summer as well as provide support to other Outreach Center programs and initiatives. This is a multi-faceted position, which involves providing instruction, developing curriculum, and leading a variety of learning experiences for students and teachers. The individual will become a part of an inclusive team of talented educators who collaborate to offer transformational opportunities and experiences. There will be opportunities to be creative and innovative as the team delivers new learning opportunities. Due to the statewide delivery of learning experiences, travel is required during the school year and summer program months for this position. The travel varies depending on the learning experience being delivered and it may include extended nights. Consideration for a remote location to carry out the responsibilities of the position will be considered.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated through experience and success the ability to carry out the core functions of the position. The necessary credentials include an advanced degree in science, mathematics, engineering, STEM education, or a related field. Desired qualifications include a strong content background in the STEM disciplines, experience teaching at a variety of levels and in various settings, and a knowledge of state and national STEM education standards. Experience with curriculum design, professional development, instructional learning technologies, and virtual instruction is preferred. Candidates should have a proven ability to collaborate with others and the ability to manage multiple tasks. They should also possess a demonstrated understanding of effective pedagogy, an enthusiasm for teaching and developing learning opportunities, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proficiency in written and oral communication.

GSSM’s Outreach Center engages over 4,000 elementary and middle school students through various STEM educational programs around the state in partnership with several school districts. GSSM is nationally recognized for the quality of its advanced STEM, humanities, student research, and international programs.
