The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) is seeking talented and high motivated applicants for the Student Development & Professional Growth Program Coordinator. This position, which provides direct administrative support and reports to the Vice President for Student Development & Professional Growth, requires candidates with excellent organizational and communication skills. This professional will work collaboratively with other departments within the school. This is a 12-month full-time position that will require occasional evening and weekend work and a high level of confidentially.

Essential job functions include some of the following:

  • Maintains withdrawal paperwork, attendance, enrollment, and conduct records, and prepares reports for the Vice President as requested
     
  • Edits and formats the Student Handbook and other divisional publications including proofreading information for other departments within the division
     
  • Works with families to collect and update matriculation information during the registration process for residential students
     
  • Develops a system for tracking attendance at professional growth in-service activities including developing feedback surveys, researching potential topics and presenters, and supporting these initiatives
     
  • Takes minutes and maintains records of all student development staff meetings and other meetings led by the Vice President
     
  • Assists with summer orientation and August move-in
     
  • Serves on the graduation committee and other campus committees as assigned
     
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Development & Professional Growth

Qualifications:  Successful candidates should have a minimum of five years of progressive and relevant experience in program support, report writing, and the coordination of processes. A bachelor’s degree is preferred with executive administrative support experience; knowledge of various technologies, and a willingness to learn new databases and systems. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
