It is with much enthusiasm that we share the news about our new Accelerate Program Director, Ms. Lynn McGee. Ms. McGee will help manage the day to day operations of the GSSM Accelerate Virtual Engineering and Synchronous Virtual Course (SVC) programs.
Ms. McGee is a seasoned engineer and educator with experience in industries such as aerospace, automotive, microelectronics, and high-technology product manufacturing. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical and Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University. Ms. McGee is a two-time recipient of the NASA Group Achievement Award for her role as the Chief Engineer on the CERES Earth Observing Instrument, an instrument that is essential to the Aqua and Terra NASA Missions, which are actively collecting and sending temperature and cloud coverage data.
Ms. McGee also holds a Master of Science in Education in Curriculum and Instructional Strategies from the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. As a North Carolina licensed professional educator in mathematics, science, and engineering, she consistently utilizes 21st Century technology and teaching methodologies within her classes. Ms. McGee has a passion for STEM education and engages students in creative ways to make connections between real-world engineering obstacles and the classroom. She has developed and taught multiple engineering courses at the North Carolina School of Science and Math and has spent several years teaching math and science at the middle school, high school and community college level.
