On February 21 at the IT-oLogy facility in Columbia, SC, the Governor’s School of Science and Mathematics held its annual 200Keys Conference. The conference began as an independent project in the SCGSSM’s Tech Venture class, intended to serve as a non-profit, educational technology conference that would give South Carolina teens the tools they needed to explore entrepreneurship in college and beyond. The conference is an exercise in leadership in and of itself in that each year the conference is passed down to the next class of students, where students organize, plan and market the event. Students who attend learn leadership skills from notable South Carolina tech entrepreneurs as well as gain inspirational advice and tips. Carolina Money spoke with students about the conference and the value of science and math in classrooms in South Carolina.
