Great day for our Girls XC team, they are on their way to the State Championship with the boys. Congratulations to runners and their coaches!

October 25, 2017

Two of our teams are out of the Championship hunt. Our Ladies Tennis and Volleyball fell tonight. Both fought tough matches and we tip our hats to our South Side Christian for tennis and Dixie for volleyball they bested us tonight.

We will assess the seasons, our strengths and weaknesses and come up with training plans to do better, that is what champions do.

Teams and coaches you did our school proud, you fought hard and deep into the playoffs keep your chins up, I am proud of you all.

Your seasons have ended; take two weeks off. Your pre-season starts, and after that, we will chase more championships.

Boys and Girls cross country are still in the hunt for a State Championship. XC we are all pulling for you - be tough, be fast.

You only get better when you work smarter and harder-  that goes for school, sports and life.  We will do just that. - Coach O'Connor

The Lady Eagles Volleyball Team ventured to Ridge Spring - Monetta High School tonight in the 2nd round of the A State Playoffs. Undaunted by a long bus ride and bad weather, the Lady Eagles stayed poised and focused. Led by Mikey Pennell in the opening set, the Eagles quickly raced to a steady lead. A loud RSM house got the score close, but the Lady Eagles took set 1 by the score of 25-19. Stepping up to the line to serve in set two, the Lady Eagles sped for a quick 8-1 lead, and never looked back, capping set two by the score of 25-10.

In the last chance for RSM to take set three from your Eagles, Tori Botzis shot a ball down the line which gave the Lady Eagles the edge and the serve to get the final point and eliminate RSM from playoffs with a set three win 25-22.

Your Lady Eagles have now advanced to the State Quarterfinals (upper state semifinals) where they will play the winner of Dixie vs Hunter-Kinard-Tyler. Stay tuned for a follow up email to see who your Lady Eagles will face next. A great job was done tonight by all the players, managers, and coaches. Shoutout to Ray, Coach O'Connor, and Josh for coming out to support your team. Keep pushing forward Eagles and show your Eagle spirit.

Volleyball: Your Lady Eagles defeated Whitmire 3-0 to advance to the 2nd round of the 1A State Playoffs. Whitmire was never a problem for your Lady Eagles, as we aced them 28 times, a season record and maybe a school record, tonight in a 25-8, 25-10, 25-7 victory. The win puts your Lady Eagles on the road to face #2 Ridge Spring - Monetta on Monday at 6 pm at their house. The team will be departing around 3 pm on Monday so be sure to wish them luck when you see them. Thank you to all who came out tonight and supported your Eagles.

The girls next race will be the state qualifying meet at Sandhills on 10/28 where they will compete against other A and AA schools for the chance to go to the state championship on 11/4.

Last night’s loss to Marlboro was unpleasant; losing is never an enjoyable event. This game and the game Monday evening will have no impact on our run for an Upper State Championship and a shot at a State Championship. Tonight's game and Monday's game are non-region and are not Class Single A games. We are playing them as developmental games to work our athletes and give them time to practice under the pressure of real game conditions. That being said, we still want to win.

Our ladies this evening were working hard, and I am proud of them. As a two-year school, we have to get our players time in the games, and we do that. The only way to get better is to get out there and try. Any athlete that gives their all, that shows up and hustles, and contributes to the team is a winner. The score board says who won the game, but it does not show the heart of a competitor. Every Eagle that steps out to play is a competitor and a winner.

Our Lady Eagles battled a tough McBee team that took us to game 5 and gave their all. In the end our girls found the strength within to open their hearts and bring the win home. One of our players dislocated her shoulder in the 4th set and came back in to help secure the win in the 5th. Our whole team showed heart and courage. One of the truely fine things about sports is you can see a person in a different light. That kid in your class that may be quiet may just be a fierce competitor and team leader on the playing fields. Effort, heart and teamwork are things that are learned when you suit up and play the game. Our kids are feirce competitors you should see the light in their eyes when they play. Well done coach and team, now lets make a run at State.

October 4, 2017

After a hard night of running, the GSSM cross country team came back to school with second place overall for boys and fourth place overall for girls.  Even though we were up against 5A schools, we still had a pretty good night.  Brendan got 1st in our boys race and Caitlin got 2nd in our girls race Congratulations to everyone who ran!

Your Lady Eagles went on the road and resumed region play as they faced a tough McBee team. McBee came out hot in the first set but your Eagles didn't back down from the challenge and won the tough earned set 26-24. McBee didn't take that well and came back to sneak set 2, 25-19, from your Lady Eagles. That's all our ladies needed. Set 3 went our way 25-21, and McBee ran out of steam. Undaunted, your ladies took set 4, 25-13, sealing a 3-1 victory and a region win. This win puts your Lady Eagles in second place behind Lewisville, who your Lady Eagles face Thursday. Great job tonight ladies, managers, and Coach Kennen. Give your ladies a high five tonight and tomorrow!

September 25, 2017

The Lady Eagles volleyball team took down crosstown rival Hartsville High School, a 4A school in the area. Sweeping the Foxes 25-14, 25-19, and 25-12, the girls were led with a phenomenal effort by every girl on the team. Great job Lady Eagles! Your Lady Eagles continue region play tomorrow (9/26) at McBee at 6pm. Be sure to give the team a high five and wish them good luck tomorrow!

September 24, 2017

Today the Lady Eagles volleyball team fought their hearts out at the Carolina Challenge Volleyball Tournament at North Central High School and earned a spot in the GOLD division finals, earning a higher seed than some 3A and 4A high schools. The Lady Eagles took a tough loss to 5A Sumter, 25-23, 25-20 in the first match of our heat. The Lady Eagles fought back and took one of two sets from cross-town rival Hartsville High (who we play Monday and who finished way below us in the seeding), and took one of two sets from 2A Buford (who went on to be the number 2 seed in the gold division finals). The Lady Eagles may have fallen in the first round of the finals, but they put they never gave up and gave schools much larger than us a mere taste of what we are. Great job today Lady Eagles! Keep pressing forward!

September 21, 2017

Great day for our teams!

Girls Tennis defeated Mcbee 5-1 and Girls Volleyball sent cross town rival Emanuel home with a loss. Way to go Eagles!

Lady Eagles Volleyball

Our Lady Eagles Volleyball team dropped a hard fought match to Lewisville.  A tip of the hat to the Lewisville team and coaches they came in hungry and took home the win.  Coach Kennen and our girls will learn from this and use the lessons as fuel for future victories.
