GSSM Accepting Applications for iTEAMS Xtreme Summer Camps in Berkeley, Horry

The South Carolina Governor's School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) is now accepting applications for iTEAMS Xtreme, its computer science, technology and entrepreneurship summer camp program. Online applications are available at www.scgssm.org/iteams

iTEAMS Xtreme is GSSM's computer science, technology and entrepreneurship day camp for rising 7th and 8th graders across the Palmetto State. During iTEAMS Xtreme, campers explore the latest technologies while engaging their innovative side to develop an idea for a new product. Challenges focus on 3-D printing, mobile app development, and creating interactive objects using MaKey MaKey.

Each camp serves approximately 60 students and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. iTEAMS Xtreme will be held at the following locations:

  • Berkeley County: July 25–28, 2016, Berkeley High School 
  • Horry County: July 25–28, 2016, Conway Middle School

Due to the generosity of our donors, camps are offered at no cost to students. Donors include Burroughs & Chapin Company, Chicora Rotary Club, Coastal Community Foundation, CPM Federal Credit Union, Dargan Construction Company, First Citizens Bank, The Jackson Family Fund, Santee Cooper, and Waddell & Reed - Russell F. Powell. Apply online as the camps fill quickly.

The application deadline for all of GSSM’s summer programs is May 13, 2016.

GSSM is also hiring teachers from local communities to serve as iTEAMS Xtreme camp instructors. The application deadline for teaching positions is March 31, 2016.
