GSSM Accepting Applications for its iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation Summer Camp

The South Carolina Governor's School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) is now accepting applications for its newest summer camp program, iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation. Online applications are available at

iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation is GSSM's computer science and technology day camp for rising 7th and 8th graders across the Palmetto State. Next Generation pushes students with an advanced curriculum and a focused challenge centered on robotics and Arduino technology. During Next Generation, students will build their own robot and program a remote control while exploring Arduino technology.

iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation will be held at the following locations:

  • Beaufort County: June 13-16, 2016, H.E. McCracken Middle School
  • Greenville County: June 13-16, 2016, Fisher Middle School
  • Dorchester County: June 27-30, 2016, Oakbrook Middle School
  • York County: July 11-14, 2016, Springfield Middle School
  • Lexington County: July 18-21, 2016, Lexington Technology Center

Each camp serves 60 students and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. There is an early bird registration fee of $165 per camper if paid with submitted application before April 11, 2016. Following that, the cost increases to $185 per camper. This includes all instructional materials, a T-shirt, snacks and a pizza party on the final day of camp. Full, need-based scholarships are available.

The application deadline for all of GSSM’s summer programs is May 13, 2016.

GSSM is also hiring teachers from local communities to serve as iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation camp instructors. The application deadline for teaching positions is March 31, 2016.
