GSSM Kicks Off CREATEng Camp in Orangeburg

June 24, 2016

Engineering summer camp at William J. Clark Middle School

On June 27, 2016, the South Carolina Governor's School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) will kick off its CREATEng day camp for Greenville County students. CREATEng will be held June 27-30 at William J. Clark Middle School for rising 8th and 9th graders who have a strong interest in science, technology, engineering and math.

CREATEng is a one-of-a-kind, four-day immersion into design-based thinking. Working in teams, students engage in a problem-based curriculum where they apply principles of engineering design to solve daily challenges. Students will compete in daily challenges and interact with engineers on-site and during field trips. The camp will serve up to 60 students.

GSSM's financial partner for CREATEng in Orangeburg is The Boeing Company.

Members of the media are invited to attend the CREATEng closing showcase on Thursday, June 30, at 2:30 p.m. The event will take place at William J. Clark Middle School, 919 Bennett St, Orangeburg, SC 29115.
