GSSM Kicks Off iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation Camp in Greenville

New robotics summer camp at Fisher Middle School

On June 13, 2016 the South Carolina Governor's School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) will kick off its newest summer camp, iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation, for Greenville County students. iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation will be held June 13-16 at Fisher Middle School for rising 7th and 8th graders who have a strong interest in computer science, robotics and technology.

iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation is four-day camp that pushes students with an advanced curriculum and a focused challenge centered on robotics and Arduino technology. During Next Generation, students will build their own robot and program a remote control while exploring Arduino technology. The camp will serve up to 60 middle school students.

GSSM's financial partner for iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation in Greenville County include 3M, BMW, E. Erwin & Nancy B. Maddrey II Foundation, First Citizens Bank, Fluor Corporation, Greenville Health System, Harris Teeter, IBM, Lockheed Martin, Michelin, Piedmont Natural Gas, Publix Super Markets Charities, The Graham Foundation, Time Warner Cable, Vulcan Materials Company and Walmart.

Members of the media are invited to attend the iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation closing showcase on Thursday, June 16, at 2:00 p.m. The event will take place at Fisher Middle School, 700 Millennium Blvd, Greenville, SC 29607.
