GSSM Kicks Off iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation Camp in Summerville

New robotics summer camp at Gregg Middle School

On June 27, 2016 the South Carolina Governor's School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) will kick off its newest summer camp, iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation, for Dorchester County students. iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation will be held June 27-30 at Gregg Middle School for rising 7th and 8th graders who have a strong interest in computer science, robotics and technology.

iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation is four-day camp that pushes students with an advanced curriculum and a focused challenge centered on robotics and Arduino technology. During Next Generation, students will build their own robot and program a remote control while exploring Arduino technology. The camp will serve up to 60 middle school students.

GSSM's financial partners for iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation in Dorchester County include American Honda Foundation, Charleston Defense Contractors Association, Coastal Community Foundation, CPM Federal Credit Union, First Citizens, Harris Teeter, Home Telecom, Publix Super Markets Charities, Russell F. Powell, Waddell & Reed, and Time Warner Cable.

Members of the media are invited to attend the iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation closing showcase on Thursday, June 30, at 2:00 p.m. The event will take place at Gregg Middle School, 500 Greenwave Blvd, Summerville, SC 29483.
