The South Carolina Governor's School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) is pleased to welcome Steven Cote as its new director of admissions.
Cote will work closely with the GSSM recruitment, marketing and outreach teams to seek out academically talented and motivated students to attend GSSM, as well as to assist students and parents with the early college application process. Cote joins GSSM as the School begins accepting applications for the class of 2017. The application deadline is February 15, 2015.
Originally from Sumter, Cote graduated from Frances Marion University in 2006 with a bachelor’s in history and a minor in philosophy. Cote has worked in the admissions departments of both Frances Marion University and Western Carolina University.
“The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics is an amazing educational institution,” said Cote. “I am thrilled to join the team responsible for filling the halls with the brightest minds in South Carolina.”
“Because GSSM is more similar to a college than a high school, starting with the application process, it will help that Steven has spent the majority of his career in college admissions,” said Kim Bowman, GSSM executive vice president for strategic direction. “We are thrilled to have him join our team and look forward to advancing our admissions process with new ideas and energy.”
