Holiday Greetings from GSSM!

December 9, 2016

We hope you enjoy a selection of our students’ artwork that will be featured on holiday cards for GSSM.

Working with Patz Fowle, GSSM's Visual Arts Coordinator and resident artist, students had the opportunity to create paintings and photographic images for holiday cards that evoked heartfelt warmth for the season and love for friends and family.

It’s like they are ‘sharing the love’ from our home to yours.

Check out their cards and a few words from our resident artists:

"Watercolor is my favorite medium to use, and animals are my favorite subject to paint, so with those reasons in mind I came up with the idea of the horse and cardinal. The look and feeling of the grey horse was inspired by the white dog in my painting "Untethered", which is actually from a few months ago. It is a more emotional, looser piece, whereas the horse and cardinal painting is more focused and detailed. Each time I use watercolors, I learn something new. I am extremely grateful for the experience of creating both paintings and for this opportunity to share my work with others."

"I had a lot of fun painting this scene and trying to depict a warm house alone on a snowy night, which seemed appropriate for the holidays."
