October 28, 2016

The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) Foundation is excited to welcome Mary Katherine Marshall and Anna Clapper to the team.

Mary Katherine Marshall joins the GSSM Foundation team as the first Director of Career Services. Marshall will be working full time to place GSSM’s graduates with South Carolina’s companies as well as placing Accelerate students into post graduate internships. Marshall brings with her 12 years of experience in non-profit management and education programming, most recently serving National History Day.

She is a graduate of the College of Charleston, with a certification in non-profit management from the Winthrop University School of Business Administration.

“It is exciting to be part of a new and growing initiative at GSSM. I cannot think of a better way to give back to the Palmetto State than helping our brightest students and graduates build relationships locally,” Marshall said. “Helping ensure GSSM’s alumni talent enters our local workforce is paramount to continue growing our state’s economy. I look forward supporting that process.”

Anna Clapper joined the GSSM Foundation staff as Alumni Relations Coordinator. After graduating from from GSSM in 2010, she attended the University of South Carolina Honors College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology. While at USC, she served on the GSSM Alumni Association Board and frequently returned to Hartsville to visit her younger sisters, who also attended GSSM.

She will be responsible for coordinating the Alumni Board as well as running the alumni fundraising campaign.

"I'm very excited to be back at GSSM as Alumni Relations Coordinator,” Clapper said. “As a student, my peers and professors felt like family, and have been some of the most influential people in my life. It's a really cool feeling to now be helping that Govie family grow and stay connected."

“Mary Katherine and Anna are excellent additions to our dynamic organization,” said Kim Bowman, CEO, GSSM Foundation and EVP Strategic Direction, GSSM. “I’m excited to see them bring their roles to life through their talent, commitment and creativity.”
