Summer Camps Update (COVID-19 Response)

March 18, 2020

Dear Families,

The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) shares our state’s concerns about the Novel Coronavirus. The GSSM leadership team is continuing to monitor health conditions as we receive guidance from local and state health officials regarding the status of COVID-19. Presently, GSSM is moving forward with its plans to offer our Outreach Center 2020 summer camp learning experiences, which include GoSciTech, iTEAMS, and CREATEng.

Camper applications are currently being accepted on a rolling basis until May 15. Spaces are filling quickly. To learn more and apply online, please visit www.scgssm.org/camps.

All of us here at GSSM take the health and safety of the children participating in our summer programs very seriously. Today and always, their health and safety, as well as that of our staff, and families, is our top priority. We will always continue to take every measure to ensure all constituents remain protected and well.

If COVID-19 forces GSSM to cancel our summer camp programs prior to their start dates, all enrolled students will receive a refund for payments they have made toward the cost of the program. This refund includes funds paid toward any deposits or enrollment fees.

We are looking forward to providing your child with an outstanding learning experience this summer!

Please feel free to email camps@scgssm.org or contact Melissa Hoffman, Outreach Center Program Coordinator, by telephone at 843-383-3958 with any of your questions.

Sincerely,

Randy LaCross

Vice President for Outreach & Global Initiatives
