The GSSM Eagles went up against cross-town rival the Hartsville Lady Foxes again Monday night in volleyball and tennis.
In volleyball, the Lady Foxes won the first two sets. The Eagles fought back and took the next two sets, but Hartsville overtook them in the fifth set for a 3-2 set win. In tennis, the Lady Eagles took a 5-1 loss.
Although the Eagles suffered losses in both sports, they refused to be crushed in spirit. “[It] was a game that we worked hard for,” Mikey Pennell said. “Yeah, we didn’t win, but I saw some of my teammates making plays so perfect you want to sit in awe for a moment. We’re a family and games like that only cement it. And as for family, it was apparent that the rest of the school had/has our back. How could we possibly keep our heads hung and not come back with a vengeance with a team, coach, and family like this?”
