Congratulations to Senior Grace Berrigan who received the Class A Women's Tennis Player of the Year Award yesterday! Tomorrow, she will also receive the SC Tennis Player of the Year Award voted on by Class A coaches. So proud of her amazing accomplishments! #GetHereGetAnywhere

 

 


Basketball Senior Night

Congratulations to:

The Managers of the Girls Basketball Team:

Vivian York.  Vivian has helped manage the girls’ basketball team for two years.  She has committed to Clemson University to major in Nursing.  She then plans to go to medical school to become a neurosurgeon.

Saleah Mcfadden.  Saleah is escorted by her parents Sonya McFadden & Paul McKnight.  Along with managing the girls’ basketball team, she is involved with the NAACP, the Multicultural Club, and many other groups.  In college, she will be majoring in mechanical engineering.  She has been accepted to various colleges which include Hampton University, Spelman College, Howard University, North Carolina A&T, and 7 other universities. After college, Saleah plans to pursue a career in mechanical design engineering and hopes to start her own company for designing and constructing mechanical equipment.

GSSM's Lady Eagles:

# 11, Claire Benson.  Claire is escorted tonight by her parents, Keith and Lori Benson.  Claire has played for the Lady Eagles in both of her years at GSSM and is also a member of the ladies’ soccer team.  In her time here at GSSM she has also served as an ambassador and orientation leader.  Claire plans to study Biomedical Engineering at Penn State University in the fall. 

# 14, Delaney Walden.  Delaney is escorted by her parents Billie and Cleon Walden.  She has played basketball for 4 years and is also a member of the volleyball and lady’s soccer teams.  Delaney is undecided on college, but plans on majoring in Biology with a Psychology or sociology minor.

# 20, Tessa Ortiz.  Tessa is escorted tonight by her parents Rodney and Karen Ortiz.  Along with playing basketball, she is the co-captain of the volleyball team, manager for the boys’ basketball team, an orientation leader, and senior member of Campus Life Advisory.  She has not decided where to attend college, but wants to major in Biomedical Engineering and minor in Spanish.

#32, Brittany Tuten.  Brittany is escorted tonight by her mother, April Tuten. She has played basketball for 2 years and has played post during her career. In her free time she enjoys leading the GSSM choir, singing with the Glee Club, and the GSSM Sound Wave. She is planning on attending the University of South Carolina and majoring in Mathematics. 

The Managers for the Boys Team:

Brantley Leaphart.  Along with helping manage the team, Brantley is the president of the Forward Club.  After graduating, he plans to study Biomedical Engineering and one day hopes to own a company that produces Biomedical innovations.

Tessa Ortiz.  Tessa is escorted tonight by her parents Rodney and Karen Ortiz.  Along with managing the boys’ team, she plays on the girls’ basketball team, is the co-captain of the volleyball team, an orientation leader, and senior member of Campus Life Advisory.  She has not decided where to attend college, but wants to major in Biomedical Engineering and minor in Spanish.

The Senior Boys:

# 3, Anish Chaluvadi.  Anish is escorted tonight by Faisal Lachab.  Anish has played basketball in both of his years at GSSM, is a member of the tennis team, and serves as an ambassador for the school.  He plans to attend either Clemson or Georgia Tech, where he will study Chemical Engineering with a minor in Business Administration.
  
#10, Weston Light.  Weston is escorted tonight by his parents Kevin and Stephanie Light.  Other than basketball, Weston is a member of the tennis and soccer teams, and is also an ambassador for GSSM.  He is undecided on where he will study in the fall, but plans to major in Mechanical Engineering.

# 11, Matthew Magee.  Matthew is escorted tonight by his mother, Lisa Magee.  Along with being a member of the basketball team, he is involved in Beta Club, Cancer Awareness Society, yo yo and mo', and track and field.  Matthew plans to attend the College of Charleston and major in Biology with a concentration in Pre Med.  He also hopes to be a manager for the men’s’ basketball team.

#12, Evan Livingston.  Apart from playing basketball at GSSM, Evan is also a member of the soccer team, National Honors Society, Beta Club, Forward, Outing Club, Carnival Committee, is a Natural Helper, and played the saxophone in his junior year.  He also plans to start a Dodgeball club this spring.  Evan plans to attend either Clemson or Vanderbilt where he will either study Education or Engineering.
