HARTSVILLE, S.C. (Feb. 19, 2026) — The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) Marketing & Communications team has been recognized as a 2025 Notable State Documents Award winner by the South Carolina State Library for the school’s official viewbook, a publication designed to showcase GSSM’s academic programs, student experience and statewide STEM mission.
The Notable State Documents Awards, established in 1991, honor outstanding state publications, websites and other media based on quality of writing, design and informational value. The annual recognition highlights communications that effectively inform and serve the public.
The award-winning viewbook was developed as part of GSSM’s broader brand and recruitment strategy and incorporated input from student focus groups to ensure the publication authentically reflected campus life, academic rigor and opportunities available to students across South Carolina.
“This one really means a lot to our team,” said Jennifer Furlong, director of marketing & communications at GSSM. “We worked hard to make sure the viewbook felt real and relatable, not just polished. We wanted students and families to see themselves here. It’s rewarding to know that effort resonated beyond our campus.”
“We are honored that the South Carolina State Library has recognized the GSSM Viewbook with this award,” said Jenifer L. Blair, Ed.D., vice president for enrollment management. “The publication provides a comprehensive overview of the distinctive opportunities offered through the residential program at the Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics. Our marketing team’s thoughtful and strategic work has resulted in a publication that effectively captures and communicates the GSSM experience.”
The publication serves as a key recruitment tool supporting GSSM’s mission to expand access to advanced STEM education for students statewide while strengthening awareness of the school’s residential high school, summer programs and outreach initiatives.
Furlong noted that the recognition reflects a collaborative effort involving students, faculty, staff contributors and the Marketing & Communications team working together to tell the GSSM story with clarity and authenticity.
