HARTSVILLE, S.C. (Oct. 14, 2025) — The South Carolina Governor's School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) Foundation has received a $60,000 grant from the Trane Technologies Foundation to expand its GoSciTech Residential Scholars program, reaching more students and counties across South Carolina.
Support for GSSM’s GoSciTech summer camps aligns with Trane Technologies’ Sustainable Futures strategy, which focuses on broadening access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and preparing students for green careers.
“We are thrilled to support the GoSciTech Residential Scholars program,” said Deidra Parrish Williams, Trane Technologies’ leader of citizenship and community engagement and executive director of the Trane Technologies Foundation. “By expanding access to STEM education, we are not only fostering innovation and curiosity but also investing in the future leaders who will drive sustainable progress in our communities and beyond.”
GSSM's summer programs give students hands-on learning experiences across a wide range of STEM fields. Participants explore advanced topics using state-of-the-art technologies while developing the curiosity and confidence to pursue their passions in science, math and engineering.
“We are grateful for Trane Technologies’ commitment to expanding access to GSSM’s high-quality STEM opportunities,” said Danny Dorsel, president of GSSM. “Thanks to their support, we were able to more than double both the number of students reached and the counties impacted through our summer STEM camps.”
Trane Technologies’ partnership with GSSM reflects a shared commitment to preparing the next generation of scientists and innovators to excel in STEM fields, strengthen communities and create a more sustainable future for South Carolina and beyond.
Through its 2030 Sustainability Commitments, including efforts to create opportunity for all, Trane Technologies is investing $100 million and 500,000 employee volunteer hours to support a generation of learners with the potential to transform the world.
