HARTSVILLE, S.C. (Sept. 23, 2025) — The Milliken & Company Charitable Foundation has donated $10,000 to the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) to support GoSciTech Summer Camps, which serve 1,000 rising sixth- through 10th-grade students with hands-on STEM learning.
“Milliken is proud to support GSSM’s GoSciTech camps, which bring STEM learning to life for students across South Carolina,” said Bethany Smith, senior vice president and chief human resources officer at Milliken. “By supporting access to hands-on experiences and nurturing curiosity, we’re helping to build a stronger future for our communities — one inspired student at a time.”
In 2025, all 16 South Carolina technical colleges hosted GoSciTech Day Camps, expanding access to communities statewide. GSSM also hosts a residential GoSciTech camp on its Hartsville campus.
“Milliken’s support has been vital to GSSM’s growth and mission,” said Danny Dorsel, GSSM president. “Their continued partnership ensures students across South Carolina have access to life-changing STEM opportunities.”
Ranked the No. 1 public high school in South Carolina and No. 8 in the nation, GSSM educates more than 10,000 students in grades three through 12 each year. Thanks to the support of organizations like Milliken & Company, GSSM can keep camp tuition low and provide free or reduced tuition for students with demonstrated financial need, breaking down barriers to STEM education and preparing South Carolina’s next generation of leaders.
