The GSSM Outreach staff have curated a collection of over 150 free web resources for math classroom teachers, their students and students’ families. Many of the websites are arranged by subject area, grade level, or topic to help you find the particular resource you are searching for to create lesson plans or at-home activities.

BetterLesson
Grades K – 12. Searchable lesson plans and resources for all content areas. Search by grade level, topic and content standard.

Citizen Math
Grades 6 – 12. 144 real-world lessons from Mathalicious help middle and high school teachers address the Common Core Standards while challenging their students to think critically about the world. and also provide teachers with an opportunity to teach standards-based math through real-world topics that students care about.

cK-12
Grades K – 12. Searchable resources (flexbooks, adaptive practice, simulations, videos, PLEX, study guides, etc.). Free resources for students, parents, teachers, schools, and districts. 

ClassHook
Grades K – 12. ClassHook has curated thousands of educational video clips (between 1 – 5 minutes) and made them suitable for classroom use so you can share them with your students. Using ClassHook, you can save hours of time each week searching for engaging content. All you need to know is a keyword or topic, and you'll be able to find the perfect clip for your next lesson. The videos on ClassHook are age-appropriate, aligned to educational standards, and accompanied with questions and tools to facilitate discussions. Grades K – 12. An educators’ guide to open educational resources with information about online repositories, curriculum-sharing websites, and sources for lesson plans and activities. 

Engage NY
Grades K – 12. Each grade level module includes units, daily lesson plans, daily quizzes, tests, teacher materials, skills practice, and answer keys. A significant number of problem sets so that teachers can provide students with plenty of opportunities to practice and apply their knowledge.

Excel Easy
Grades 4 – 16+. If you're an Excel beginner, this is a good place to start. You can use Excel to enter all sorts of data and perform financial, mathematical, or statistical calculations and is a great tool for organizing data and lists. This free site is not only well organized and user friendly, it also offers a free tutorial on how to use Excel and includes an overview of all chapters and over 300 examples.

Factoring Calculator
The calculator will try to factor any expression (polynomial, binomial, trinomial, quadratic, rational, irrational, exponential, trigonometric, or a mix of them), with steps shown. To do this, some substitutions are first applied to convert the expression into a polynomial, and then the following techniques are used: factoring monomials (common factor), factoring quadratics, grouping and regrouping, square of sum/difference, cube of sum/difference, difference of squares, sum/difference of cubes, and the rational zeros theorem

Grades PreK – 16. A curated selection from extensive PBS LearningMedia and early childhood education libraries to offer you the best digital learning resources for use at home featuring assignable, self-paced, and self-contained activities to help provide students with high-quality, standards-aligned material to keep them engaged and learning. The resources cover a range of commonly-taught topics and subjects, and have been selected for their ease of use in a variety of household settings by minimizing the need for logging in, hands-on guidance, or group work.

Grades 6 – 12. A core academic web site that delivers multimedia content--videos, animations, and simulations--on general education subjects to teachers and their students. 

Illustrative Mathematics
Grades K – 12. A problem-based core curriculum designed to address content and practice standards. Students learn by doing math, solving problems in mathematical and real-world contexts, and constructing arguments using precise language. Teachers can shift their instruction and facilitate student learning with high-leverage routines to guide learners to understand and make connections between concepts and procedures. 

Khan Academy
Grades K - 12. Video learning segments are followed by practice activities.

IL Classroom
Grades K – 8. A website that provides teachers with a free library of interactive math lessons, videos, quizzes, and assignments for students.

Math Drills
Grades 3 – 8. Includes over 57 thousand math worksheets that may be used to help students learn math. PDF math worksheets are available on a broad range of topics including number sense, arithmetic, pre-algebra, geometry, measurement, money concepts and much more. There are also a few interactive math features including the Sudoku and Dots math games, and the more serious math flash cards and unit converter. 

The Math Learning Center: Free Lessons & Publications
Grades K – 12+. Each of the resources is labeled by the appropriate grade band and includes additional materials such as blackline masters, teacher guides, student handouts, teaching materials, teaching tips, and additional materials.

Mathematics Assessment Project
Grades 6 – 12. This site has 100 lessons sorted by grade level with embedded formative assessment, some focused on developing math concepts, others on solving non-routine problems. There are also a set of 94 exemplar summative assessment tasks/activities that includes scoring rubrics and examples of scored student work.

Merlot
Grades 9 – 12. Over 91,000 of discipline-specific learning materials, learning exercises, and Content Builder webpages, together with associated comments, and bookmark collections, all intended to enhance the teaching experience of using a learning material. Learning materials in MERLOT is categorized into 22 different material types (for example, animation, assessment, assignment, case study, collection, simulation, and tutorial).

The New York Times: Science & Math
Grades 6 – 12. Current real-world resources for teaching science and math. The resources are organized in categories such as: Lesson of the day; Math; Guest Lesson; Science; What's Going on in this Graph?; Mentor Texts and others.

Numberphile
Grades 6 – 12. Numberphile is produced by video journalist Brady Haran. The stars of the show include mathematicians and other guests from around the world. Topics range from the sublime to the ridiculous… from historic discoveries to latest breakthroughs. In addition to hundreds of videos, they also have a new podcast of longer-form interviews.

OER Commons
Grades K – 12. A public digital library of open educational resources that you may freely use and reuse at no cost, and without needing to ask permission. From a single point of access in OER Commons, you can search, browse, and evaluate resources in OER Commons' growing collection of over 50,000 high-quality OER. Here are some curated collections to start exploring: full university courses; interactive mini-lessons and simulations; adaptations of existing open work; open textbooks; and lesson plans, worksheets and activities. 

Open Middle
Grades PreK – 12. Leaves parts of an equation blank and asks students to fill them in to make it true. Open Middle problems encourage perseverance, game-like play, creativity, and support inquiry thinking.

PBS Learning Media: Mathematics
Grades PreK – 12. Bring math concepts to life through interactive games, animations and engaging media resources.  Large number of multimedia resources searchable by grade level, content areas and specific topics by key word search. Available instructional guides for utilizing include Google Classroom Integration , Class Rostering Without Google Classroom , Shareable Content Folders , and Advanced Search and Browse Features .

Powers of Ten
Grades 6 – 12. Powers of Ten is a nine-minute video that takes us on an adventure in magnitudes. Starting at a picnic by the lakeside in Chicago, this famous film transports us to the outer edges of the universe. Every ten seconds we view the starting point from ten times farther out until our own galaxy is visible only as a speck of light among many others. Returning to Earth with breathtaking speed, we move inward- into the hand of the sleeping picnicker- with ten times more magnification every ten seconds. Our journey ends inside a proton of a carbon atom within a DNA molecule in a white blood cell.

Grades K – 12. The support documents are organized by grades. Each grade is then organized by possible units of study which address all of the standards for that grade. SENTeacher
Grades K - 5. Many of the large printable colorful pages would be great for printing on cardstock and laminated for reuse: students could use dry erase markers and erase when finished.

Grades 6 – 12. Textbooks, learning guides, online courses, college readiness prep, and test prep balance a teen-friendly, approachable style with academically rigorous materials.

Grades 3 – 8. Math and science resources organized by content area and topic (featuring short videos, quizzes, and educational songs). 

TeachEngineering
Grades K – 12. A digital library of STEM standards-aligned engineering curricula (units, lessons, activities, labs, challenges and informal learning “sprinkles”) for math and science educators. 

TeacherTube
Grades K – 12. An online community for sharing instructional videos. It is a more educationally focused, safe venue for teachers, schools, and home learners. As well, it is a site where teachers can post videos designed for students to view in order to learn a concept or skill.

Texas Instruments
Grades 6 – 12. Texas Instruments has prepared a number of resources to support both teachers and students in remote learning.

The Utah Middle School Math Project
Grades 6 – 8. Middle school math resources including teacher, student and parent workbooks; PowerPoints for each lesson; plenty of additional practice problems for each lesson; answer keys for all lessons; and additional teacher resource materials. Which One Doesn't Belong
Grades PreK – 12. Showcases four shapes, numbers, or graphs and asks students to describe which one doesn't belong, using math vocabulary.

Zearn
Grades 1 – 5. A self-paced, web-based program, which starts a typical lesson with warm-up activities to engage students. As students work through the program, they complete timed arithmetic problems, watch instructional videos on new concepts, and solve practice problems.

Interactives, Simulations and Software Tools

Algebots
Grades 6 – 12+. Algebots is an equation-solving puzzle game, with little robots who cheer when you get the steps right, and fall asleep if you don’t move them around. Equations range from basic to advanced, including absolute value, systems and radical equations, so can be used from middle school through pre-calculus. The game emphasizes that solving is about “undoing” – applying the inverse function – to both sides of the equality or inequality. An educator guide is also available for this game.

Desmos
Grades K – 12. Suite of math software tools, including graphing, scientific, four function, and matrix calculators; geometry tools; math classroom activities; a getting-to-know-you activity; and very useful starter screens. 

Geogebra
Grades K - 12. Dynamic mathematical software (geometry, algebra spreadsheets, graphing, statistics, and calculus in one easy package) free for students and teachers. Includes an authoring tool to create interactive learning resources as web pages. This open source software can typically be installed in less than 2 minutes.

Legends of Learning
Grades K – 8. Over 2000 fun, curriculum aligned, math and science games and simulations across 350+ learning objectives. Games and simulations for the classroom are specifically designed from national and state standards to support your lesson plans. The first missions are Mathematics, Life Sciences, Earth and Space Sciences, and Physical Sciences.

PhET
Grades 1 – 12. Interactive, research-based math and science simulations that can be run online or downloaded to your computer. The simulations are extensively tested and evaluated to ensure educational effectiveness. 

Project Sampson
Grades 6 – 12+. Project Sampson is an adventure and resource management for middle school math on up to College Algebra. It is designed to give players an appreciation for when linear equations are used, and for how Geographic Information Systems are used in disaster preparedness. Players fly to locations across the world to save the planet from disasters, using the energy of the ship to slow down the rate of damage done (the slope) based on how many turns (x) until the disaster hits. Students should already be somewhat familiar with the slope-intercept form of a line before playing. Game players will see how much damage a disaster will bring based on how many turns (the x value) until it hits. An educator guide is also available for this game.

Shodor
Grades 3 – 12. Don't be misled by the simplicity of Shodor's webpage--this is a very popular set of interactive online materials (interactive models, simulations, and educational tools including a collection of activities and lesson plans) for math and science education.

xPonum
Grades 6 – 12+. xPonum is a puzzle game in which players collect gems using a beam of energy. Game play emphasizes exploration, so that players experience mathematics as being about trying out various ideas, not about already having the answer. At the most basic level, in the first world, players use slope and intercepts and must find points along the line, using the slider to shift the line. This level can be played in an introductory algebra class. At later levels, players explore shifts in parabolas, cubic and trigonometric functions, which are suitable as pre-calculus topics. Manipulatives

Didax Virtual Manipulatives
Grades K – 8. Online virtual manipulatives including unifix cubes, ten frames, number lines, counters, base ten blocks, 120 number board, dice, pattern blocks, algebra tiles, and others. You can also embed these manipulatives in your own online learning platform.

Manipulatives for the Upper Elementary
Grades 4 – 6. These 7 math activities (geometric solids, base ten blocks, geoboard, color tiles, tangrams, pattern blocks, and blocks & cubes) are available in both HTML and pdf which is useful for printing these activities.

The Math Learning Center: Free Math Apps
Grades K – 8. These apps are based on the visual models featured in Bridges in Mathematics. All apps are available in two or more versions: a web app for all modern browsers, and downloadable versions for specific operating systems and devices (such as Apple iOS for iPad). Some of these apps allow sharing. Sharing in an app allows educators to pose problems and investigations for students using an 8-character code or link. Students can share their thinking with their teachers and classmates. Share codes remain available for continued use for 18 months from the date they are last accessed. The sharing feature is available in Number Pieces, Number Rack, Number Line, Number Frames, Math Clock, Geoboard, and the Whiteboard App — and is coming to more apps soon. Other apps available include Fractions, Pattern Shapes, Math Vocabulary Cards, and Money Pieces.

Mathigon
Grades 6 – 8. This well-organized site includes a large and varied collection of multimedia resources! Activities contains a large number of virtual manipulatives including Polypad (polygons, number and algebra tiles, fraction bars, Tangram, pentominoes, and much more). 

Mathsbot
Grades K – 12. This site is well organized and has 57 virtual manipulatives and tools for teachers and students. Other resources include puzzles; lesson starters and drills; and question generators.

National Library of Virtual Manipulatives
Grades K – 12. A library of interactive, web-based virtual manipulatives or concept tutorials, mostly in the form of Java applets, for mathematics instruction. The manipulatives and tutorials are easily searchable by grade level and topic.
